Baltic Circus on the Road

In recent years contemporary circus in the Baltic states has seen fast development. This project responds to a need to build capacity for Baltic artists to export their performances in the international touring circuit and raise awareness and visibility of Baltic contemporary circus scene in Europe.
Baltic Circus on the Road (BCR) aims to build capacity for professional circus artists active in all three Baltic countries to produce tourable performances and show their work to international audiences. They will develop their network and enter the touring circuit of contemporary circus in Europe.
Artists will be selected via an open call for new creations of small-scale performances adaptable for indoor and outdoor presentation. Selected performances will be accompanied by four leading Baltic partner organisations to develop their projects as tourable productions. All performances will be performed both in important international circus events in the Baltic states and abroad.

In order to develop their performances artists will each receive a two-week residency and an artistic mentor, all provided by the project partners, as well as support to create marketing materials for their performances.
In each festival there will be a separate event for professionals (programmers) organized in collaboration with the Baltic Nordic Circus Network to present the Baltic circus field and available performances from the region. A catalogue of available performances in the region will be made available for international programmers. International producer and Baltic Nordic Circus Network coordinator Lina B. Frank will be engaged in the project as an international touring expert.

BCR is collaboration between coordinator – Rigas cirks (Latvia), partners in the Baltic states: Festival Re Riga (Latvia), Arts Printing House (Lithuania), Estonian Contemporary circus development center (Estonia).
