Theatre workshops: creativity

The workshop is led by Benita Vasauskaitė

Actress Benita Vasauskaitė (born 1984) studied acting at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. Together with other actors from Aidas Giniotis’ course, she founded the theatre laboratory “Open Circle Theatre” and, together with the company, toured the stages of Lithuania and foreign countries. She also acts in “Keistuoliai Theatre”.

Together with the team of the “Open Circle Theatre”, Benita Vasauskaitė has received the “Golden Cross of the Stage” awards for the best plays for children – “Grandmother`s Fairy Tale” and “Daddy’s Tale”, and together with “Keistuoliai Theatre” – for the best play for children – “The Best Tale”.

The artist has a lot of experience working with young people as she has been contributing to organise the creativity camp of “Keistuoliai Theatre” for children for several years now. What is more, Benita works as a theatre teacher at St. Joseph’s School, she also conducts theatre classes for children of all ages in Petras Vileišis Progymnasium and shares her creative practices in the educational workshops organised by the Arts Printing House.


The workshop is led by Monika Klimaitė

Director Monika Klimaitė (born 1989) graduated from Klaipėda‘s University Faculty of Arts with a Bachelor‘s degree in theatre directing and strengthened her academic experience at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, where she obtained a Master‘s degree in Performance Practice as Research. She did an internship in the Theatre Directors Lab at Lincoln centre in New York (USA) and Beirut (Lebanon) as well as participated in physical theatre training with the master of physical theatre Eugenio Barba in Denmark.

Some of Monika‘s first works include performances such as “Pool (no water)” (Juozas Miltinis Drama Theatre), “Perplex” (State Youth Theatre), “When We Dead Awaken” (National Kaunas Drama Theatre), and more recent ones – “The Dark Side of the Moon” (Liepaja Drama Theatre), “Lord of the Flies” and “Inferno” (Panevėžys Theatre “Art”). In 2019, together with fellow actor Povilas Adomaitis, Monika founded the theatre company “Normal Theatre”, and since 2020 she has been the artistic director of Panevėžys Theatre “Art”. The director has been conducting creative theatrical workshops since 2012.
