Teklė Kavtaradzė (born 1990) is a film and theatre playwright with a Bachelor’s degree in film dramaturgy from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, which was later supplemented with a Master’s degree in acting. T. Kavtaradzė has written two prose books, and her first completed play “Homebody, or a Room Full of Characters” won the dramaturgy competition “Versmė” in 2011 and was staged at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre.
The playwright has participated in many creative workshops in Lithuania and abroad (Poland, Latvia, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, etc.), where she has developed and presented various creative works. In 2017 the creator received the “Silver Crane” award for best screenplay for the film “The Saint”. In 2020 she made her debut as a theatre director, winning the “Open Space” competition at the Arts Printing House and presenting a performance about adolescence – “KISSMAS”.
T. Kavtaradzė believes that performances are born of human experiences. She believes in the power of creative writing as an opening and unblocking practice. Teklė has gained a lot of theoretical knowledge that she seeks to share, since writing is not inborn but, instead, a craft that can be learned and is useful for creative activities in life and cognition of oneself and others.
