Possible number of students: 15 to 25
Age group of students: grades 1 - 12
The workshop is led by Agnė Matulevičiūtė
Composer Agnė Matulevičiūtė (born 1991) is an artist with a Master‘s degree in music composition from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and a talented prodigy, engaged not only in music composition but also in other activities, including costume design, festival organisation (International Theatre Festival “Sirenos”, Contemporary Music Festival “Muzika Erdvėje”) and educational activities for children. As for Agnė‘s main pursuit – composing music – the artist states that music in both theatre and cinema is like a commentary on what is happening. Nevertheless, the artist separates her work in cinema and theatre: “When working in cinema, music is created in the stage of postproduction: you are sitting alone in the studio, working individually or together with the director. Whereas in theatre there is a lot of contact, there is teamwork, the music has a live influence on the stage and, in my opinion, gains more weight.”
Even though working in theatre is closer to her heart, her achievements in cinema speak for themselves: A. Matulevičiūtė is the first woman composer to win the “Silver Crane” award. This award was given to her in 2020 for the soundtrack of the film “Isaac”. Also, in 2020 Agnė won the LRT “Pragiedruliai” award for the best radio play, and in 2022 she was nominated for the “Golden Cross of the Stage” for creating music for the performance “me two / We, the Clique”.
