SPOT'25

From July 10 to 13, the international street art festival SPOT will take place for the eighth time in the public spaces of Vilnius, inviting residents and city guests to experience the city through art once again. At the heart of this year's festival program is a simple yet significant idea: in the city, you are never alone!

SPOT'25 PROGRAM:

LA FIGURE DU BAISER | Compagnie Pernette (FR)

What is exceptional about these scantily clad statues, alone, in duos or in groups, is that you can walk around them at your own pace, observing again and again without a single word being said.

Revel. Enjoy at length the direction of a gaze, the hand that stops before contact with the skin, daydream about an exposed shoulder or the pressure of fingers on thighs. The challenge in La Figure du Baiser is for the statues to move from one pose to another without the previous
poses ceasing to resonate in spectators’ head. Games of seduction, approach and rejection, subtle variations in rhythm, energy and touch...

All the colours of a physical love that can still remember to take time to breathe, the dancers taking turns to express their feelings and emotions by moving or standing still...

July 10, 20:00

July 11, 20:00

Location: Courtyard of the European Humanities University (Savičiaus str. 17)

Duration: 45-60 min

Desires, Saints and Other Observations on the Infinity of the World | Tolyn gilyn (LT)

Six saints, carrying relics, lead a group of chosen ones into the moment of blessed existence, where they hope to free themselves from the illusion they have imposed on themselves. Using sound manipulations, merging the movements of objects and characters, a score of time and environment is created. The performance turns into a spatial sculpture that envelops the visitor, opening up unusual dimensions for interpretation and experience.

The performance opens up a crack in reality through which images, myths and reflections from the Baroque era flow in. Using the rules of theatre and simultaneously resisting them, the performance arises from an impulse to examine and grasp the balance points between fiction and reality, holiness and destruction, temporality and eternity, desire and flow directions.

July 10, 21:00

Location: Square near the National Gallery of Art, next to the sculpture „The First Swallows“ (Konstitucijos av. 22)

Duration: 1 hour 30 min

RIPPLE | Tea time company (BE)

As the spiral rolls impressively across the stage in an endless circle, the performers face constant challenges. They are forced to anticipate and respond to the continuous movement of the metal wheel, which at times seems to obey and at other times seems to have its own will. The stage becomes a playing field, in which time seems to stretch with each jump and a fall can last forever. That continuous dynamic between the performers and the spiral makes RIPPLE unique: The impact of one decision: every moment can change the whole situation due to an unexpected movement of a performer.

With a giant metal spiral, no less than 5 meters long and 2.5 meters high, TeaTime Company takes the audience along themes such as balance, influence, power, flow and friction. As a central element, the spiral forms an ideal setting for the performers to explore the boundaries of their disciplines and creativity. Thanks to the special object, the three – each with a unique background in dance, juggling and Chinese pole – are constantly discovering new dimensions of their skills.

July 12, 20:00

TAPE THAT | Hands down circus (IE)

Tape That is a charming, light-hearted, non-verbal acrobatic duet. Two performers construct a visual world using colourful tape, object manipulation and partner acrobatics. A simple roll of tape transforms from DJ decks to a spyglass, and is stretched to create physical barriers and obstacles for the performers to navigate.

Tape That is a playful exploration of the world we live in; when challenges present themselves, just how many problems can be fixed with a few rolls of duct tape?

July 13, 12:00 and 15:00

Location: Tauro Hill amphitheater, near the children's playground (closest access from Pamėnkalnio/ Kudirkos street)

IT REALLY HURTS WHEN YOUR HEAD HITS THE CONCRETE | DeRonde Deroo (NL)

A man drags his companion around as a rag doll. A 70-kilo body tied to him. En route and lost, he deploys the rag doll as a living Swiss army knife. Tap its head and water comes out or climb on his shoulders to look around. But what if your companion suddenly no longer wants to play along? 'It really hurts when your head hits the concrete' humorously and poetically embodies how we all have a history. In this physical performance, you are immersed into an absurd world in which the internal struggle of a man becomes personified. Expect a deluge of images that reads like a poem and takes you to virtuosic acrobatic highlights.

July 12, 13:00 and 19:00

July 13, 16:00 and 18:00

Location: Tech Zity (Sapiegų Park, Antakalnio st. 17)

Duration: 40 min

HUGS & HANDSHAKES | There there company (BE)

Hugs & Handshakes is an acrobatic choreography inspired by everyday encounters. How can hugs, a simple pat on the shoulder, or a firm handshake be transformed into spectacular acrobatics? Everyday touches serve as the starting point for an acrobatic choreography, where small gestures unfold into grand movements. And the audience gets to join in. Would you like a hug or rather a handshake? The boundaries between performers and audience gradually blur. Spontaneous duets emerge. Or is everything not quite as it seems?

July 12, 17:00

July 13, 14:00 and 16:00

Location: Cathedral Square

Duration: 45 min

SFUMATO | Llum de Fideu (CAT)

We live surrounded by people and other living beings. Why do we take into consideration some lives and others don't? Can we empathize with a bird, a fish or a tree? How can the attempt to put ourselves in their shoes transform us? Sfumato is a poetic, immersive and itinerant reflection on the relationships we establish with other species in public space. A journey that seeks to blur our limits as humans, opening cracks through which new sympathies, care and solidarity can begin to circulate.
