Baltic-Nordic Circus network members will gather in Lithuania for the first time

New circus weekend’16 will introduce not only spectacular performances but also other events, important for contemporary circus and other performing arts communities. On September 7th a meeting of Baltic – Nordic circus network will take place in the “Arts printing house”. This network unites fourteen organisations of contemporary circus art in Baltic Nordic region countries. The network seeks to strengthen collaboration of regions and to develop the field of circus art in the region of the Baltic Sea, by holding various workshops and meetings for artists and circus professionals. “Arts printings house” is the one and only representative of Lithuania in this network and will hold the first ever meeting in Lithuania.  

The aim of this meeting is to confirm the communication strategy of Baltic – Nordic circus network and to prepare applications for establishing various network events. During the meeting, members of the network will be introduced to activity fields of “Arts printing house”, its effort in developing contemporary circus and currently executed projects.

On September 8th Baltic – Nordic circus network and “Arts printing house” will invite everyone to international seminar “Baltic – Nordic region: impact of circus”. The aim of this seminar is to gather politicians, professionals of circus and the press from Baltic – Nordic region. The main seek is to emphasize regional, artistic and social impact of the circus in the Baltic and Nordic countries, by presenting various activities of regional circus, sharing the experience and fascinating examples, holding a discussion with participants of the seminar. 

Participants of the seminar: Daina Urbanavičienė – director of Lithuanian Council for Culture, Lotta Vaulo – Director of “CircusInfo” centre (Finland), Joonas Martikainen – Head of “Silence Festival” (Finland),  Mara Pavula – Editor of “Next Door Circus” magazine and organizer of contemporary circus festival “ReRiga” (Latvia), Anna Ljungqvist – Representative of “Circus Cirkor” organisation (Sweden), Anna Laine – representative of Finnish Institute in Tallin (Finland), Minna Sirnö –  Director of Arts Promotion Centre in Finland, Audronis Imbrasas – Founder of “New Circus Weekend” festival, member of Vilnius City Council, and others. 

Meeting and seminar are organized by “Arts printing house” together with “CircusInfo” centre (Finland). 

Events are partially financed by Lithuanian Council for Culture and “Nordic Nord Plus” organisation.
